Teachers Pay Has Falled by 11% Since 2010
Dr Mary Boosted said teacher salaries are worth 23% less now once you account for inflation. But there is another figure out there as well, which was calculated by Luke Sibietta at the Institute for Fiscal Studies or the IFS. And he comes up with a much lower number that teachers pay has fallen by 11% in real terms since 2010. For experienced teachers, they've had a real terms pay cut of 13%. For teachers in the middle of the salary scale, it's 10%. For starting salaries, it's 5%. So new teacher salaries have been much less squeezed than more experienced teachers.
