static site generation is really good for things that do not change very often. But as soon as you start getting into logged in stuff or things that need to be updated, then you have to do it on the client side. I don't think it's necessarily worth your time. What I could recommend is if you're sort of like on the fence, go with some sort of framework like Svelte kit. When that eventuality comes where you need to do the server side, moving over to it should be pretty simple in that regard.
