The Power of Mythology

I wanted the book to actively engage with that kind of narrative impulse to preserve something by making a space in myth where it could live forever. I think there is this desire to sort of make it live on by telling stories about it. You start to tell yourself stories about a place. It's funny how you can be so over it when you're there and then you go away and you're like, God, I love it so much.
