The Effects of Neglectful Environments on Attachments
If you carry a version of the oxytocin gene, your environment has less of an impact on you. But if you're in a neglectful environment as a child, they're like armour plated genes. The environment that neglectful environment seems to impact you less than it would somebody who hasn't got those. And therefore you will meet people who have had really quite awful upbringings, but actually seem to be socially fine and build lovely attachments. That's because they have these armour-plated genes.
