The Australian Health Star rating is basically the amount of stars on products that you will find in supermarkets. It's supposed to be a way for consumers to get a quick evaluation as to how healthy the food actually is. A recent study read by Jekyll University found that three quarters of ultra-processed food and more than half of discretionary food products displayed a health star rating of 2.5 stars or more. And they found that there were ratings as high as three or four stars on junk foods. This is like the wolves looking after the sheep, says Paul Taylor.
