Cognitive Errors and How to Deal With Them
Cognitive distortions kind of link together so when you have unhelpful thoughts that are taking you towards depression inducing the thoughts they often are associated with more than one cognitive error. So for example like overgeneralizing sort of associated with that black and white thinking but it's it's taking one negative thing and then making a global attribution on this one negative event or you know saying like this is a pattern right. Mental filtering is really very carefully almost disqualifying any positive information and only focusing on negative information, he says.
