No Blood for Oil
The neocons and their ideology were really triumphant in determining the discourse playing upon, you know, understandable fears that the US public had in the post 9 11 period. And sidelined genuine kind of expertise both within the government and outside the government to promote these rationales for the war. The rallying cry for those who are resisting and protesting was no blood for oil. At the time that was seen as a very crude pardon the pun; it wasn't about democratizing the Middle East but rather protecting U.S. national security against threats.
