The biggest regional change that the invasion of Iraq unleashed was the emergence of Iran's influence in the region. So Iran becomes a very powerful player, the most powerful player in Iraq after 2003 and to this day remains the strongest influence. It uses Iraq and the wealth of Iraq in a way over the years to become more powerful regionally. But also the chaos spreads across the Syrian border and the new angry Islamist movements taking power,. bombing, killing, you know extreme cultish behavior, beheading all that, that's spreading across as a consequence of the chaos and the anger.
What happened in Iraq once the Americans and the British arrived? Why was the transfer of power a far from smooth operation? And what else went wrong in what should have been the mission for liberation?
