The Hedonic Treadmill
I think largely what we see with as people gain wealth is that you sort of end up on the hedonic treadmill. And if all you ever do is aspire, then there's no like inherent satisfaction in any of it. The idea that these are the clothes of a really content happy stable people is I think mostly false. It kind of reminds me of the whole NEPO baby discourse and like how people get so upset that these kids of actors or artists like try to get into the industry.
