Regini a from gugerat, where they suffer both a flooding in some seasons and then drought in other seasons. They have designed something called the bongaroo, which is a water management system that stores water when there are floods, and then it's available for the drought. And they trained a group of dullet women, the lowest cast the poorest women to install and manage these water systems. These women have brought back a lot of land into agriculture, land that would not have been you wouldn't have been able to grow food on otherwise. Their social status has risen enormously as a result. But in india own only four % of the land.

Dr Anne Karpf is a writer and sociologist whose recent book, How Women Can Save the Planet, looks to analyse some of these questions in more granular detail.
