A Brief History of Cortez's Bloodless Coup
Hernand cortez's brazen, bloodless coup was perhaps the most audacious and astonishing takeover in the annals of military history. Cortes now had the emperor on a puppeteers string, and he moved fast to crush any descent. He assembled 15 of the most powerful lords in tinechitlan, including mantezuma's son, and had them burnt alive in a public square. Montezuma finally withered and agreed to go with them. But oddly, moctezuma and cortez develop a warmth between each other during this time.
