The Trojan War - Who Were They Rooting For?

There were no greeks, either in homer orer generically, anywhere in the ancient greek world. The word greek comes from the romans, and the greeks called themselves hellenes. Homer does not use the ord which is the standard word for greeks - that is helene in the iliad. In terms of the trojan war, it becomes a kind of national epic. It's one of the ways in which greeks identify themselves as superior to all non-greeks.
