The Risks of Lactated Ringers Over Normal Saline or Plasma Light

If the history is suggestive of hypovolemia in a patient, does the choice of your initial fluid really matter? Is there a reason to choose lactated ringers over normal saline or plasma light if your institution has a billion dollars and is using that stuff? I mean, you shouldn't be using normal saline because if it's SIADH, the normal saline is going to make it worse. So the fluid you want to use is 3% saline. The big risk if it's beer drinkers potomania or if it's a volume depletion in both of those or in a psychedelic polydipsia are all prone to rapid rise in serum sodium.
