Simon Pegg was writing Hot Fuzz with Edgar Wright when the call came down. He'd already auditioned for Mission Impossible 3 in a completely different incarnation. Joe Carnahan was developing a script and I did a reading for a character. It wasn't JJ Abrams' script, it was a completely different script. And he just sort of literally in JJ's kind of way just sort of said, hey, do you want to come and be in Mission Impossible 3?
