The US's Net Indebtedness

The US has now in debt to the rest of the world by about 25% of US GDP, something like that. We're supposed to be wearing this big deficit and yet the flow of funds into the United States, the dividends and capital gains are worse coming in than is going out. Just hurt to understand.
