Reason and Rationality in the Islamic Understanding
Islam has become more rationality oriented than it even used to be initially. In the 20th century, there was a certain strain of Islamic apologetics that felt very insecure around the dominance of Western secular ideologies. There was a conscious effort on the part of early 20th century Islamic reformers to go out of their way to say that Islam not only was a reasonable and rational religion, but that it was actually more reasonable and more rational than Christianity was.
