The Big Garden Bird Watch - What's All the Data Used For?

The big garden bird watch is the UK's biggest piece of wildlife, citizen science. Twitchers across the country were asked to tot up how many birds and of what species they spotted over a one hour period. This might seem like a novel thing but it can trace its roots back to 1979 when it began as a feature on children's TV show Blue Peter.
