The History of Advertising in Korea

Advertising was quite robust during colonial period. But as we are moving towards a Pacific war, that whole industry basically shrinks and practically disappears because all resources are redirected towards war efforts. So when advertising begins in South Korea again, it kind of starts not quite from scratchbecause some people who did it during colonial period are still around. Advertising does become a significant industry during military dictator Pak Chung-hee, like 60s, 70s. And at the time, Korean economy is industrialized. It's like truly picks up. The Dongana white pages incident I do frame as one of the key moments in the history of Korean advertising.
