Internal Mediation Leads to Rivalry

Shakespeare's first comedies are stories of two male friends or two girlfriends, or four as in a mid-Saharan-eyed stream. Internal mediation leads to rivalry; External mediation does not. The difference is reflected in two kinds of society: the modern and traditional hierarchical forms of society.
