What does it mean to take an existentialist orientation to the paradox f o democracy? The point is to say that democracy is something that has to be continually re achieved by the citizens through their engaged choices and actions. On our reading of democracy, democracy is a kind of blank slate,. It is a decision to play a perpetual, iterative game. But that game is also defined by a, a tra i ambiguity, right? And so that makes it an existential burden for every one who inherits it.
