Is There a Soul in Buddhism?

There is a very rich philosophical tradition across the different Buddhist schools, which avoid the idea of a soul at all costs. There's this idea of something back and deeper than are taken for granted reality. And so that word soul is often used to talk about that thing which can't be named. It's beyond concept, non-conceptual. So when I used it there, it was to get to mystery. But to get not only mystery, but that mystery is also exquisitely personal.
