The show mainly appeals to Christians, especially Evangelicals and Catholics. But creator Dallas Jenkins tells CNN that it appeals to non-Christians as well. One of the reasons is that it's filling a demand for Christian entertainment in America. He especially wanted to portray the ordinariness of the characters.
