Newton's Empiricists

The laws discovered by Newton were expressed in mathematical terms, but he didn't believe it possible to reduce physics to mathematics. He constantly called for physical explanation verified by physical experiments. Everything was based on analysis of concrete, but the system was not closed because the analysis knew only provisional stopping points instead of absolute stopping points like those that they carried.
