The Impact of the Resolution Process on Shareholders

The Chamber of Commerce says the resolution process has morphed over time to be used as a political tool, which now needs to be reigned in. The majority of shareholders' proposals deal with issues regarding social policy concerns and not necessarily related to company strategy or bottom line. There have been more than 400 shareholder proposals within the S&P 250 that deal with political spending disclosures just over the last several years. Only one of them has ever passed on average; they only get about 25% support.
