Is Meditation a Replacement for Sleep?

meditation is giving you rest two to five times deeper than sleep. It's a different type of rest than sleep, and ultimately it is the mental awareness that you have when you're meditating that allows your body to get that deep physical rest. That's why you feel so energized on the other side of it. But it's not the same thing as sleep. However, it will improve the quality of your sleep. I've seen that for myself. Used to have debilitating insomnia on the first day of my first class. I'd say it's the number one benefit that people report.
