The Revisionist History of Chamberlain

Some revisionist histories are starting to value Chamberlain's role during this period that he gave Britain time to prepare. Until 1938, it was never the intention for the British to deploy an army to the continent. He still hopes it's going to be a way out of the war, any potential war. And it's only really from the spring of 1939 as the realisation started to grow that whatever he's doing is not going to prevent a war. There are many reasons why Chamberlain's position becomes untenable. But it's the truth of the matter that he just didn't have the right relationship with the United States.
