The Purpose of Education
The purpose of education is not just to train workers, but to form human beings. And that's a larger task than simply preparing children for the workforce or for to become self-sufficient. So in order for education to fulfill that purpose, it has to teach human beings how to exercise their leisure and govern themselves.
