Building Houses in the Streets

In 1926 there was a lot of unemployment about contracts that dried up. The shipyards themselves were using their own skills and designers trying to find new work for themselves. They applied for grants and you got the Department of Health for Scotland, approved your design. That meant that councils could build it. But they were just more expensive than traditional built houses because they were building them on a small scale. And this is the problem all of them found.
