The Phelps family purchased a home in stratford, connecticut 22 years ago. The house was built by a retired sea captain and had sat unoccupied since his death in 18 forty five. They moved into the mansion in february of 18 forty eight. And for the first two years, life there was uneventful. But on march tenth of 18 50, all of that changed. When they returned home later that morning, the front door of the house was standing wide open.
