CHAPTER

The Importance of Having More Disabled Clinical Professionals

The last chapter looks at Jai counseling and one of the stories here is really this question of who can be a Jai counselor. There were real tensions as you can tell from my previous description between Jai counselors and the disability community which have sought to be bridged but are difficult to bridge. I strongly believe that a lot of the challenges I describe in this book could be helped along by having more clinicians with disabilities themselves.
