There was exceptionally high economic growth, higher than any ime before or since in british histore forget. And there was radical structural transformation of pek industry and pik manufacturing. Think of agriculture going from being the biggest food importer in the world to being self sufficient by the 19 seventies and 19 eighties. Huge nstructural transformation, extremely successful and largely invisible,. one that wouldn't happen with a strong nationalized gas industry. The attempt to pick winners turned out to be a policy of supporting lame ducks. We'd all be richer to day had those projects never been thought of.
