The Importance of Empathy

When you're eight, nine years old, it's almost impossible to suppress those emotions. So straight away, there's this idea that you could ignore other people's emotional pain essentially. And then once you learn to do that, you can learn empathy clearly is not very useful. What's the use of empathy when the next day we've got to get up and pretend that never happened?
