The Rise and Fall of the Web
The web was not that big. Initially, the web was mostly colleges and almost every web address you went to was .edu. The coolest thing early on was when New York Times published their first article about the web by John Markoff. There were so many people calling in that basically all of the long distance lines into like Urbana, Champagne or whatever, nobody could get through anymore.
