How Does the UDDA Impact Pediatric Neurology?
The Uniform Determination of Death Act states, quote, an individual who has sustained either irreversible cessation of circulatory and respiratory functions or irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain, including the brainstem, is dead. A determination of death must be made in accordance with accepted medical standards,. So that is the UDDA. And we're going to be kind of dissecting that definition of it as we move forward. But just wanted to make sure we're all on the same page with that.
