Click below for full episode transcript: Jaz's Introduction: When I qualified in 2013 from dental school, I had never at that stage done a ceramic onlay or any sort of overlay restoration. In fact, it was full crowns when I was qualifying. A lot of the training that I had was on PFM. So porcelain fused to metal crowns and I look at and reflect on my dentistry and how much of it is adhesive and how much I rely on lithium disilicate onlays and overlays. Jaz’s Introduction:Now, part of the learning process, I learned about immediate dentine sealing, which is what today's episode is all about. And I've been doing this since about 2015. It's something I implemented in my protocol because I went on a Jason Smithson course and I saw that he was teaching it and he recommended it. So me being a good listener, I said, okay, if Jason says do IDS, I did IDS. But over the years, the more lectures I've been to, the more literature I read, the significance and power of immediate dentine sealing really cannot be underplayed. In terms of the improvement in your bonding and the overall success and longevity of restorations just makes a lot of sense, which is why I know you're going to love this episode with Dr. Zahid Sheikh, all about immediate dentine sealing, step by step, every little geeky detail will be covered, but more importantly, whether you've never done IDS before, you will feel confident to do so. And if this is something that you do all the time, you get to understand a bit more of the rationale, the science, and the alternative options, different ways of doing it. Zahid does it differently to how I do it. And so you get to listen to both views. In fact, this episode was full of so much goodness, I had to split it into two episodes. So in this episode, we're focusing on the preparation appointment. How do you actually perform the immediate dentine sealing? And then the part two. will be the fit appointment. You've got your lab work back and now you're going to remove your temporary and then reactivate that IDS, whatever that means. You'll figure out what that means. We'll go through it in extensive, protrusive style detail. Now, these two episodes will be part of February's Adhesive Month. That's right. I'm reintroducing themes for 2024.
