Alcohol is the hydrate. Remember, a lot of the negative effects of alcohol on sleep are by way of ture system. The supplements i refer to, at least to my knowledge, don't interact with alcohol. You want appropriate amounts of sodium, potassium and magnesium in your system. Salt has gotten kind of a bad rap. It's true that people with chronic hy pretension need to avoid salt but for most people, are consuming enough fluid.
