The Ethics of Severance

Severance is the hot button ethical issue of this near distant future. It seems to me that it is inherently unethical because you are essentially creating a slave, even though you are doing it. We're experiencing people who are going under the knife severing their consistent stream of consciousness for the benefit of getting money. They can either do-existence or non-existence and if they don't do the work, they're still subjected to psychological torture.
