If the bible, and here i could be talking about the jewish bible, the christian bible, it doesn't matter, was ristal clear and was univocal, another which spoke in one clear, consistent voice would not have survived. Because part of what makes scripture scripture is its ability to speak to its community in different times and different places. Scriptural texts by their nature require flexibility, so that they are able to adapt to different times and places. And wheny i mean, all these things ore tiined together with something, i think, that you said earlyer marka used very interesting phrase: 'taking advantage of the slipperiness'
