The Pythagorean Philosophy of Reincarnation

Pythagoreans believed that every individual had an undying soul and that it was reincarnated after you died. You might return again as a human being, but you are just as likely to return as an insect, a cat, a cow, or a tree. The concept seems to have originally come into Greek religious thought by way of the Orphic mystery cult. Students of religion might see some notable similarities between this and Buddhist and Hindu teachings.
