I think that we are at a really important time in history where we're just seeing that people have this incredible potential. When we know all these pieces of information and we start to interact differently with knowledge and with people, it really seems that anything can happen. And I talk in the book about these being keys, they're kind of key pieces of information that can unlock parts of people that had previously not been unlocked. If you're a maths teacher for example and I work with lots of maths teachers you can share mindset messages with kids but then if you present the subject as a series of short closed questions with right and wrong answersKids see the content is very fixed and they can't see how

Dr. Jo Boaler is the Nomellini-Olivier Professor of Education at Stanford University and co-founder of www.youcubed.org. She is the author of eleven books including What's Math Got To Do With It? and Mathematical Mindsets. Dr. Boaler was also a White House presenter on equity.
