The Rebirth of the Democratic Party
A significant left in American society was reborn, symbolized by Bernie Sanders rise out of nowhere to become a leading contender for the presidency. Historically, the democratic party has been strongest when there's been this kind of dialogue between the center and left of the democratic party. So that is a reason to be optimistic. It doesn't mean that this group has got to win. I think the Trump forces are still strong. The appeal of ethnic nationalism is very strong. There's a tendency to bury their heads about the climate crisis. But the United States is in ferment right now - it's vinegar we want to drink.
