How do we create an environment of psychological safety with our daughters to where they want to talk to us? Make sure you pick a good context. Most boys don't want to sit down and look in the eye and start sharing from their heart. Mirroring is just repeating back what they say in your own words. It's very common forr dads, if their son or daughter comes o them with some emotion, to go right to fix it mode without really listening or empathizing. Just because we're wired that way doesn't mean we're screwed. We need to learn to catch ourselves and just listen.
