Do You Have Any Legislation That Can Effectively Combat Sex Trafficking?
We have been focused for too long on the people who are drowning in the river. We need to go up stream and find out why people are falling into the river. There is a paper trail of money that was supposed to be paid to the workers, and either it got there or it didn't. And so we need to have actual labor ininspectors who are monitoring whether or not people are getting paid. If organizations and employers can get away with wage theft, then they've already dipped their toe into exploitation. It's just a hop, skip and a jump to get to actual force labor.
