The Force of Gravity in Space

The reason we feel gravity on Earth is because of things that are resisting the force of gravity. So for example, I feel the gravity of the Earth acting upon me not because of the actual force of the Earth's gravity on me but because of the force of the chair or the ground pushing back against that gravity. That's why satellites generally won't stay forever in their orbits because they're too close to being in a stable orbit unless they get periodic boosting in their rockets to keep them up.
