Dennis Lahain's new novel, Small Mercy, is set during the summer of 1974. City of Boston had erupted in protests over court-mandated busing to desegregate public schools. Black student dies in a baffling subway accident; white teenage girl goes missing. The novel follows the girl's mother, Mary Pat Fennacy, on the hunt for her missing daughter.
