Measurement of Consciousness

Jim Barrett: Consciousness in general is not the same as wakefulness. So if you want to come up with a measure of how conscious somebody or something is, we need to track the presence of phenomenology rather than physiological arousal. We use a measure called Lemplasive Complexity for this and it tracks how diverse brain activity patterns are. And the more diverse they are, the more conscious somebody is very broadly speaking.
