Excess fat cells either increase your risk of developing cancer or perhaps exacerbating cancer once it's already developed. We've now recognized that there are several processes through which fat cells can support the growth of cancer cells. The immune system within the fat tissue will recognize these dysfunctional cells and try to clear them out. But instead, those tiny macrophages are engaged in an inefficient process called frustrated phagocytosis. They're not adequately clearing out that fat cell,. And instead, they're spitting out tiny inflammatory molecules. Those inflammatory molecules, in fact, are growth factors.
