The Importance of Self Compassion
CFT is a multi-modal therapy. So rather than just focusing on one domain of cognition or emotional behavior CFT then goes across multiple modalities in which we can bring change. The key thing here is when it comes to self compassion because of course imagine that compassion involved liking and positive emotions. Let's imagine now that you're struggling with depression your full of shame and self hatred. Can you see there in that situation what would it be like to try to be compassionate with yourself? And anger can actually be part of your desire to alleviate suffering too.
