The Importance of Parenting Differently

For years, I blamed myself because it was the only because everyone else blamed me. The things that I was experiencing were outside the bounds of what people were prepared for but nobody said autism. It was always parenting, and usually attachment. Oh, there must be something in the attachment. And at my second sense, two year old appointment, when you check off the boxes, that's early screener for autism, I wanted to chase her into the hall. "I feel like we would catch so many more people just by letting parents say my flags are up," she says.
