Unread operates with two main storage pools in mind. The first is the array and the second is the cash pool. In a RAID 1 formation, every time a bit gets written to that disk pool, it's going to make sure that bit gets wrote to two different devices that are in the pool. Every disk is formatted with its own file system when we don't use traditional RAID,. It operates independently of the other disks in the system - they only work in concert at one time.
